HRI - HANNOVER REGION INNOVATIVE

The Region Hannover provides grants of up to 10,000 euros to support research and development projects at small and medium-sized enterprises. This innovation funding program was established to promote effective technology transfer among stakeholders based in the Region Hannover.

Smart Region Hannover

To promote the Internet of Things, the Region Hannover is supporting the expansion of the new LoRaWAN wireless technology. The acronym stands for “Long Range Wide Area Network” and refers to a wireless network capable of transmitting data over long distances while consuming very little power. The Internet of Things is expected to unlock potential for more resource-efficient and effective management. In the future, trash cans will be able to report when they are full, and trees will be able to report their water needs. This means that in the future, not only municipal services such as waste collection or the parks department will benefit from the technology, but businesses, schools, and private individuals will also be able to take advantage of the potential of the “Internet of Things.”
