HRI - HANNOVER REGION INNOVATIVE
The Hannover Region provides grants of up to 10,000 euros to support research and development projects at small and medium-sized enterprises. This innovation funding program was launched to support effective technology transfer among stakeholders based in the Hannover Region.
Smart Region Hannover
To promote the Internet of Things, the Hannover Region is supporting the expansion of the new LoRaWAN wireless technology. The acronym stands for “Long Range Wide Area Network,” and it is a wireless network capable of transmitting data over long distances while consuming very little power. The Internet of Things is expected to unlock potential for more resource-efficient and effective economic activity. In the future, even trash cans will be able to report when they are full, and trees will be able to signal their water needs. This means that not only municipal services such as trash collection and parks and recreation departments will benefit from the technology, but businesses, schools, and private individuals will also be able to take advantage of the potential offered by the “Internet of Things.”.
