Legendary Hanover – Mysterious Stories of the City

The “Legendary Hanover” walking tour invites groups to discover Lower Saxony’s capital from a very special perspective. On this themed city tour, participants not only explore well-known sights but also delve into the mysterious stories, legends, and curious events from Hanover’s past. The tour combines historical facts with exciting stories, bringing the city’s history to life in an entertaining way.

During the approximately two-hour guided tour, the route winds through the historic city center and takes in numerous significant sites. Highlights include St. Aegidius Church with its legendary “Seven Men’s Stone,” Market Church with its unusual spire, and the New Town Hall, whose façade serves as a “stone history book” chronicling the development of Hannover. The Old Town Hall and other historic sites in the Old Town are also visited and brought to life with fascinating stories from centuries past.

The numerous legends surrounding these places are particularly exciting. Participants learn more about mysterious events, unusual personalities and historical curiosities that are hidden behind the city walls. The historic garden cemetery can also be part of the tour on request. There, the graves of important personalities such as the astronomer Caroline Herschel or Charlotte Kestner remind us of formative figures in the city's history.

The tour is available year-round and is particularly well-suited for groups who want to explore Hannover in a way that is both entertaining and informative. Each tour guide can accommodate up to 25 people, leaving plenty of time for questions and personal reflections.
