High Ropes Course in Hanover

Located in the middle of Hanover's city forest, this ropes course offers educational climbing programs.

Climbing in the ropes course

The ropes course is a stationary top-rope facility conveniently located in the heart of Hanover—the Eilenriede City Forest—on the grounds of the WAKITU Adventure Center, a municipal youth program. The ropes course consists of low and high elements. The low elements focus on the group and its ability to solve problems together. On the high ropes elements, participants must navigate their way at heights ranging from 5 to 20 meters and complete movement and team tasks while secured. Here, the process of engaging with oneself and the group plays a decisive role.

Programs

Various bookable programs are offered for school classes, families, etc. Multi-day projects are also possible. The programs are tailored to each specific group. Depending on the type of program booked, each session lasts between 3 and 6.5 hours. Since the Hannover Rope Course is designed as an educational project, the training programs are based on concepts of action- and experience-oriented learning. The focus is on holistic learning that engages “mind, heart, and hands.”

Family climbing

Once a month, the Hannover Rope Course offers climbing events for families, individual participants, and small groups. In 2.5-hour sessions, participants can try out various challenges. No prior experience is required.
The elements vary in height and difficulty, making them suitable for both “first-time climbers” and “daredevils.” Participants in each event are divided into small groups of six and guided through the course by an instructor.
The program is specifically designed for parents with children but is also open to other participants.

The area is mostly pleasant and shady in summer due to the tall oak and beech trees. Sanitary facilities are available. An adjacent forest café is open in good weather.

The Hannover Rope Course is a project of Hannover's municipal child and youth services, which grew out of experiential education activities organized by various organizations in this field.
