Stamp Fun in the Deister

The Deister Hiking Pass

At twelve locations in the Deister, day-trippers can have their hiking pass stamped to prove they’ve been there.

The Deister is perfect for hiking: stretching about 20 kilometers long and four kilometers wide, this mountain range—which rises to a height of 404 meters—is located about 30 kilometers southwest of the state capital, Hannover. Whether crisscrossing the area, going up and down, or following the ridge trail along the length of the Deister—well-marked hiking trails crisscross this forested region and invite you to explore in countless ways. Thanks to excellent public transportation connections, there are convenient access points to the Deister from all directions.

The Annaturm

The planned hiking trip with the Deister Hiking Pass promises to be thoroughly enjoyable, varied, and fun. Whether you’re planning a challenging day hike or a leisurely stroll through the woods, the goal is to collect stamps and, as a reward, pin on the Deister Hiking Pin. The hiking badge is the perfect souvenir of many wonderful experiences along the way and, at the same time, a recognition of hiking efforts big and small. Hiking stamp collecting in the Deister is suitable for all ages. It’s fun and sparks curiosity, so children in particular are quickly won over by a stamp hunt in nature.

How it works

The hiking pass is available free of charge at all tourist information offices around the Deister as well as at the tourist information office in Hannover. With this pass in your backpack, you can hike through the Deister at your leisure and have the corresponding stamp fields marked at twelve official stamp stations. All stamp stations are located either at specific points of interest equipped with a stamping device or at restaurants and cafes.

For stamping outside opening hours, you will find corresponding instructions on how to still get a mark on your hiking pass.

Once you’ve collected all the stamps, you can present the pass at any tourist information office and receive the Deister hiking pin as a reward. There’s no time limit for hiking with the hiking pass, which means you can collect the stamps over a period of your choosing.
