For those seeking relaxation, the Rodenberg joint municipality is considered an insider’s tip. Its 16 villages are just waiting to be explored by bike at your own pace. Located on the northern edge of the Weserbergland region, the area offers attractive sports and recreational facilities as well as a wide variety of dining options. A circular bike tour through the joint municipality is therefore the perfect choice.

A lovely outing to the slopes of the Deister leads to the Teufelsbrücke, where the idyllic forest restaurant at Heisterburg invites you to linger. From here, you can reach the Deisterkamm via the Rodenberger Höhe.

Watch: In Hülsede, visitors are captivated by the wall and ceiling paintings in St. Aegidien Church and the moated castle, which retains its original Weser Renaissance style. The manors of the Barons of Hammerstein and Münchhausen make a detour to Apelern well worth the trip. The Archdeacon’s Church and its mausoleum are also located here.

Don't miss it: The “Schloss Rodenberg” open-air museum, featuring a bastion, rampart, and water barrier. This complex, unique in Germany, was built between the late Middle Ages and the early modern period. From the windmill on the Old Rodenberg, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the town and the wooded Deister Hills. Those who are eager to learn more should visit the District and Town Museum in Lauenau as well as the Local History Museum in Rodenberg.

In May, you can combine the Rodenberg bike tour with a visit to the traditional Stolln Festival at the Feggendorf visitor mine, which is of course open to the public at other times as well. The Fleckenfete in Lauenau in August is also a popular event. In August, the Rodenberg Kinkeldeyfest takes place, and in September, Pohle celebrates its harvest festival… Those who enjoy visiting folk festivals have a wide variety of options to choose from.

Whether as a stop along the Deisterkreisel, a starting point for excursions in every direction, or a short loop full of highlights—the Rodenberg joint municipality is definitely a destination brimming with experiences!
