Landestrost Castle is home to the Duprès-Kollmeyer sparkling wine cellar, whose origins date back to the 17th century. Since 1792, the Kollmeyer family has also operated a wine shop on Löwenbrücke in Neustadt. The Duprès sparkling wine cellar produces its renowned sparkling wine using the classic bottle-fermentation method, which yields the finest sparkling wines. The wine remains in the same bottle for up to six years, aging on champagne yeast in the cool castle cellars. Nienburg asparagus - a real treat
The area around Steinhuder Meer is also known for the “queen of vegetables”: Nienburg asparagus. Along with many other agricultural products, you can find fresh Nienburg asparagus at many farm stands, at mobile roadside stands, or at one of the region’s traditional farmers’ markets.

Did you know that Germany’s oldest chocolate factory officially opened its doors in Steinhude in 1765? The Kapellenhöhe estate in Wiedenbrügge carries on this tradition and offers exquisite creations made according to its own recipes with unusual ingredients.
