Ehlershausen–Engensen Loop

Directions
The starting point is Imkers Gehege street in Ehlershausen, just before it leads into the forest. At the beginning, the trail follows the shoulder of this street into the forest; after a few minutes, you’ll pass a small facility belonging to the Harz Water Works, and a little further on, a few water basins. Shortly after that, turn left at the intersection. At the next four-way intersection, take the second path to the right. After about 200 m, the path makes a slight left turn. Here, take a sharp left onto the somewhat overgrown trail. After about 200 m, the path turns right and widens again. Stay on this path for the next 1.5 km. At the intersection where the paved road begins, turn left. Ride straight across the next four-way intersection (take the second path to the left). Follow the approximately 1 km sandy path to the intersection with Celler Weg, where a riding trail runs parallel to the pedestrian path.

There are now three options:
1. The fastest and shortest route through the forest back to the starting point
2. Back to the starting point across the fields, including a short stream crossing
3. Stop for a break at "Haus am Walde" and then return via one of the routes mentioned above

If you want to get back to the starting point quickly, turn left: the 3-km sandy path is perfect for a gallop, though you’ll need to rein in briefly to cross a small bridge and, after about 2 km, a paved forest path. Turn right at the second paved path, and you’ll be back at the starting point.

If you choose the option across the fields, continue straight ahead. After approx. 400 m you reach the outskirts of Engensen and turn left into the forest. Turn left again at the next T-junction and you will come to the Wuhlbeck. Shortly after riding through this, you come to the edge of the forest and turn left here. To ride the most beautiful route along the edge of the forest from now on, you have to turn off several times: First, follow the path between the fields. Shortly after the asphalt begins, turn left onto another dirt road and then right at the edge of the forest. Then turn left at the T-junction and right again at the edge of the forest. After approx. 1 km, turn left again at the next T-junction and follow the path to the asphalt road. Turn left onto this and then right again at the edge of the forest. Now continue along the edge of the forest until you reach the starting point again.

If you’d like to take a short break along the way, turn right onto Celler Weg and then left onto the road at the next intersection. After about 300 meters, you’ll reach the “Haus am Walde.” After the break, you’ll have to decide again: either ride back to Celler Weg to take advantage of the long galloping stretch, or continue down the road a bit further, then turn left onto Hermann-Löns-Weg and, at the end of the town, continue straight ahead onto the forest path.
