Wettmar Post Mill (Auf der Horst, 30938 Burgwedel)
It has been preserved in its original condition. It has two grinding mechanisms and looks impressive. The post mill, with its two sail blades and two louvered blades, is located at “Auf der Horst” and, during its operating hours—such as on German Mill Day on Pentecost Monday—reveals how its internal mechanisms work. The local heritage association is available for tours upon request (Tel.: 05139 4404).

Springhorstsee (Springhorstsee 1, 30938 Burgwedel)
Lake Springhorst is located northwest of Großburgwedel in the Forst Rundshorn-Fuhrberg scenic conservation area. The lake is home to a campground, a hotel with an attached bowling alley, an indoor swimming pool, and a restaurant. Swimming is permitted on the west shore. A dragon boat race is held here on the lake every year.
