Short Loop Ride in Engensen

Over 12 kilometers in 1.5 hours, the route leads past fields to Engensen.

Horseback riding in winter

The starting point is the dirt road that begins at the parking bay heading toward Ramlingen (not the parking lot for the Ramlinger Waldbad!). First turn right, then left at the next intersection. There is a fish pond on the left, and the path continues along the main trail, which turns left. The path now leads past several pastures, then straight ahead (or slightly off to the side) across the next intersection. After about 500 m on a sandy path through the forest, the trail turns right opposite a pasture. At the next intersection, turn right again and follow the riding trail that runs parallel to the footpath. After about 250 m, you’ll cross the Wuhlbeck stream and pass a sheep pasture.

At the end of the pasture, turn left at the intersection onto the county road. Follow the county road to the left for about 50 meters, then turn right onto the forest path. Follow the path—passing through several meadows—until you reach an intersection with a wider, paved path, where you turn right. About 50 m after the meadows end on the right, a somewhat inconspicuous "trail" branches off to the left. Follow this until you reach a paved path. Turn right here, and then turn right again at the end of the forest. Follow the path along the edge of the forest across a paved dirt road until we reach the county road again.

Cross this, then continue on the path on the other side, which is slightly offset. At the next intersection, you’ll be back at the sheep pasture; turn left, follow the path through the forest, and cross the next intersection. About 200 m further on, turn left onto a relatively overgrown forest path and follow it until you exit the forest (fields on your left). After about 250 m, turn right at the T-intersection (you can already see the houses of Engensen on the left). Then follow the path to the next T-intersection and turn left. Continue straight across the next intersection, and you’ll be back on the dirt road leading to the starting point.
