Ramlingen-Engesen Loop Ride

The 17.4-kilometer hike from Ramlingen to Engesen takes about 2.5 hours.

Winter ride

Directions
The starting point is the parking bay in the direction of Ramlingen. From here, follow the bike/pedestrian path along the road toward Ramlingen for a short distance. After about 250 m, cross the road and turn onto the dirt path across the street. Follow this path along the ditch for a while, then turn right before the cow pasture. Next, a path veers sharply to the left—continue straight ahead here, but then keep left at the next opportunity. The path now becomes a dirt track where you must keep to the right until you reach a wide sandy path.

Turn left onto the sandy path and keep right at the next opportunity. You will then reach the outskirts of Engensen-Lahberg. Turn right here (houses will be on your left). At the intersection with a wide bridle path (with a parallel walking/biking path), turn right again. The next 2 kilometers consist of a gently ascending sandy path, perfect for a long gallop. In the meantime, you should only briefly rein in your horse for the bridge over the Wuhlbeck. At the intersection with the next paved path, turn right onto it and follow it for about 300 meters; at the bench by the acacia trees, turn right again onto the next dirt road.

At the next opportunity, turn left onto the path between the fields and head toward Ramlingen. Once there, turn left toward the center of Ramlingen. At the main road, first turn right, then cross the road at the traffic island and continue toward the town limits. After the town limits sign, turn left, then right before the horse paddocks, and immediately left again onto the paved dirt road. Follow this path for about 1 km to the quarry pond. There, turn right onto the next dirt road. After the path makes a left turn, turn right toward the edge of the forest. Now follow the edge of the forest until, after a large hunting blind, the next path leads right into the forest.

Then turn left at the next crossroads. After approx. 500 m on the sandy path through the forest, turn right onto a paved path. At the next crossroads, turn right again and follow the bridle path parallel to the footpath. After approx. 250 m, cross the Wuhlbeck.

At the end of the pasture, turn left at the intersection. This will take you to the county road. Follow it to the left for about 50 meters, then turn right onto a forest path. Follow this path—passing through several meadows—until you reach an intersection with a wider, paved road; turn right onto the road and ride through the forest. At the end of the forest, turn right again and follow the path along the edge of the forest to the county road. Cross the road and continue on the path slightly offset on the other side. At the next intersection, you’ll come to a sheep pasture; here, turn left and follow the path through the forest past two intersections with paved roads. Finally, the path turns left back to the starting point.
