Guided tour of the mine and mine trip
The exciting journey in the footsteps of the miners begins with a short tour of the mine hall. An exhibition of mining tools, traditional costumes, lighting, and historical artifacts sets the stage for the upcoming descent into the mine. And it’s quite a journey—the Klosterstollen tunnel extends a full 1,470 meters into the mountain. At a constant temperature of nine degrees Celsius and high humidity, coal was extracted here and transported to Hannover in tram cars from Line 10. At the main tunnel, where coal mining once began, visitors disembark from the mine train. At the subsequent stops, the tour guide explains the technical aspects that characterized mining in the Deister region.
An exciting two-hour journey for the whole family that should not be missed!
