The Garbsen City Park has created a significant local recreational area in the heart of the city, which forms a major part of the supraregional, interconnected green network.
The park covers an area of approximately 25 hectares, including 5.5 hectares of water. By harmonizing the elements of water, forest, open spaces, quiet zones, and a traditional park, a landscape area was developed here and made accessible to the public as a city park.
There is a lot to experience around the 17-metre-deep Black Lake in the city park. Youngsters pull themselves up the climbing rocks in the play area to the south of the lake. Older people gaze from the benches through the aisles onto the five-hectare lake and spot kingfishers, swans and green-footed moorhens. At the western entrance, "all-age" fitness equipment beckons. The equipment is an ideal complement to the water treading facility and the Nordic walking trail, turning the city park into a health park. Visitors to the Stadtpark can use the fitness equipment and train various muscle groups, regardless of their age and according to their own wishes: Shoulders, arm and leg muscles, hips, stomach and back. Most of the equipment is suitable for individual exercises and joint training for two people.
There is also a lawn for picnics. And fortunately, the trees in the plantation have names. The 50 boards make it clear which type of tree you are looking at. Nature knowledge is in demand again!
