Lake Altwarmbüchener See

Lake Altwarmbüchener See

Lake Altwarmbüchener See is the centerpiece of an attractive local recreation area.

The local recreation area

Lake Altwarmbüchener See was created as part of the construction of the A37 "Moorautobahn" and was officially inaugurated in June 1982. Approximately one-fifth of the lake lies on the Isernhagen side, while four-fifths are located within the city of Hannover. The lake forms the heart of a local recreation area: Spacious play and sunbathing areas offer residents a variety of recreational opportunities, including playing, camping, swimming, sailing, rowing, and surfing. However, the majority of the recreational area is reserved for hiking, cycling, and nature observation. Attached to the western service building is a DLRG station and a sailing school with boat rentals.
The eastern service building also houses a DLRG station and a kiosk with a beer garden. Additionally, there are two boat docks belonging to the local water sports club.
The "Grüne Ring" trail, which runs along the lake, continues toward the school center, the Isernhagen K.B. district, and the city of Langenhagen.
