Wietzepark

Local recreation, leisure activities, and a climbing attraction at Hufeisensee.

Hufeisensee Wietzepark

Wietzepark

Hufeisensee Wietzepark is not only a local recreation area where residents can relax in a park that is both naturally beautiful and attractively landscaped, and recharge their batteries for everyday life, but it also offers a wide range of recreational activities, particularly active—that is, “sports-oriented”—recreation. Among the sports residents can enjoy here are hiking, biking, beach volleyball, bocce, soccer, and, under certain conditions, fishing.
The Hufeisensee Wietzepark thus caters to both young and older active individuals, as well as to individual athletes and groups alike.

The great significance of this park is further underscored by the fact that it is a joint project of the Hannover Region, the City of Langenhagen, and the Municipality of Isernhagen—a project that also has a “cross-border,” or unifying, character for the two municipalities. This is because the park extends across municipal boundaries. The natural boundary is the course of the Wietze River—the western section lies within the city of Langenhagen, while the eastern section lies within the municipality of Isernhagen. This “crossing of boundaries”—and thus the unity of Wietze Park—is realized not only symbolically but also in practice through the construction of two bridges over the Wietze.

Especially interesting for kids:
Wietzepark has had a very special attraction since this year—climbing as if on a pirate ship? The new “Piraterock” high ropes course makes that possible. Beautifully situated, the course features 28 climbing stations, including ten easy, eight medium, and ten difficult elements. Children ages 8 and up are allowed to climb the swaying bridges and beams.
School groups and clubs can choose from a varied program of activities, including team challenges and additional offerings such as a GPS pirate treasure hunt. Of course, children’s birthday parties can also be celebrated at Piraterock Hannover.
