Benther Mill

The beautiful Benther Mill is a sight to behold.

Benther Mill in Ronnenberg

The mill of Benthe in Ronnenberg is a striking historic building in the Benthe district and is one of the few surviving windmills in the Calenberger Land region. The four-story Dutch-style cap windmill was built in 1855 and continues to dominate the landscape on Benther Berg to this day.

For many decades, the mill served as a grain mill for the surrounding villages. Farmers continued to have their grain milled here until the mid-20th century, when operations were finally shut down.

Today, the mill of Benthe has been converted into a residential building and can therefore only be viewed from the outside. Nevertheless, it remains an important testament to the region’s economic and technological history.

Thanks to its location near Benther Berg, the mill is also a popular landmark and a key stop along walking and cycling routes through the surrounding area. The combination of historic architecture and its scenic setting makes the mill of Benthe an interesting destination in the Holiday Region Hannover.
