The tallest building in the former Hohenfels mining complex in Sehnde/Wehmingen is the former salt mill, built in 1896. The nonprofit organization Mobile Welten e.V. has been based here since 2017. This historic site is also home to the Hanover Tram Museum.

In addition to the ongoing restoration of the historic building, the association organizes annual temporary exhibitions on a wide variety of mobility-related topics. Furthermore, a permanent exhibition has been established, which is continually being expanded. Key themes include the history of bicycle and motor vehicle development. Visitors can get a sense of what meals were like during travel in days gone by in our small MITROPA collection.

Many of the exhibits have been restored or reconstructed by the members themselves, offering a vivid glimpse into the history of technology.

Through its dedication, the Friends of the Museum helps preserve technical knowledge while opening up new perspectives on mobility. This makes it a unique part of the museum and cultural landscape in the Region Hannover.
