The City Museum is a cultural and museum hub in the city of Burgdorf. Its exhibitions and events enjoy an excellent reputation and attract significant attention. Each year, approximately 20,000 visitors come to the 17th-century farmhouse, which was restored in 1983.
The focus of the offer is on changing exhibitions on the history of the city and its culture. From the extensive holdings from all periods of the city's history, prehistory and early history as well as folklore, individual periods are presented in one room in the context of regional history. In another room, the city museum displays parts of the nationally important collection of pewter figures. In addition, every two years there is a pewter figure exhibition and a nationwide collectors' meeting.
The city museum regularly invites visitors to lectures and discussions on the history of the city, readings, slide shows, concerts, cabaret events and talk shows.
The property is owned by the City of Burgdorf. The Verkehrs- und Verschönerungs-Verein (VVV) of the City of Burgdorf has assumed responsibility for its management.
