Discover Marienburg Castle digitally: Virtual tour enhances the visitor experience in Pattensen
Marienburg Castle is one of the most famous landmarks in the Hanover region. Due to ongoing renovation work, the historic castle is currently closed to the public. However, the new feature “A Journey Through Time at Marienburg” within the Pattensen Time Travel App provides digital access, opening up new ways to explore the region’s landmark.

Digital tour of Marienburg Castle connects the surroundings with history
Visitors to the approximately 500-meter-long loop trail around Marienburg Castle can use the app to access content that includes 360° panoramas, explanatory texts, and video clips. This combination allows visitors to explore the historic surroundings and interior spaces—such as the Knights’ Hall, the Wedding Chapel, and art-historically significant details—digitally. The content is available on-site via QR codes or can be downloaded in advance.

The tour includes 15 stops and provides information on the history of the Guelphs, the architecture, and the building’s history. The connection to Queen Marie and King George V of Hanover is also a central focus. The digital version is designed to take about 60 minutes to complete and requires approximately 350 MB of storage space.
