Summer in the cultural triangle

For one week, downtown spaces will be transformed into festival stages for film, music, and dance: At “Summer in the Cultural Triangle,” iconic open-air cinema on Opernplatz—curated by the Kommunales Kino at the Künstlerhaus—combines with a diverse supporting program featuring numerous cultural figures from Hanover. The highlight is the joint opening celebration of the new season by Schauspiel Hannover and the Hanover State Opera—with a live broadcast of the opening concert on Opernplatz.

As part of the “Der Handel tanzt mit!” series, this year’s festival—through hell:wach, an initiative of the Landesverband Freie Klassik Niedersachsen e.V. and Musikland Niedersachsen—is bringing Lower Saxony’s independent classical music scene to unusual venues, such as P&T;, Kreipes Coffee Time, and the Hotel Motel One Hannover-Oper.

Dance is taking over the city, too: Tanzpunkt Hannover is bringing movement to public spaces with “Choreo to go.” At the outdoor piano on Opernplatz, pianist Marina Baranova transforms urban sounds into an open, unifying soundtrack as part of the “HörMal!” series organized by the Lower Saxony State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments—a musical declaration of love to Hannover.
