Neighborhoods and residential complexes
Hannover is considered a stronghold of Brick Expressionism.
In addition to the Anzeiger Tower, the City Library, and the Capitol Tower, there are numerous other buildings constructed in the Brick Expressionist style. These include the Günther Tower, built in 1927 on Stephansplatz in the Südstadt district, and the Glückauf Tower on Geibelplatz in the Südstadt. In the Südstadt district, there is also St. Heinrich Church and entire streets lined with closed building blocks and residential complexes. Such examples can be found in the List district, including the residential complex on De-Haën-Platz and the Im Kreuzkampe housing development. In the Kleefeld district, the Kleefeld Garden City is well known. Further examples can be found in the districts of Vinnhorst, Vahrenwald, Hainholz, and Nordstadt.
