Large Mosaic "Sports" - Visit Hannover

Germany's largest fine mosaic

Large mosaic "The Sport"

The Feinmosaik is located right next to the Heinz-von-Heiden-Arena.

Detail of the mosaic

The mosaic was created by Eduard Bargheer between 1962 and 1963. Originally, the mosaic adorned an exterior wall of a gymnasium at the Niedersachsenstadion. When the stadium was converted into the HDI-Arena and the gymnasium was demolished, the mosaic was moved to its current location (on the stadium forecourt at the south entrance on Ferdinand-Wilhelm-Fricke-Weg). With an area of nearly 200 m², the mosaic is one of the most significant works of architectural art in Germany.
