The church has been used as a youth church since 2006.

Luther Church

Lutherkirche in Hannover was built between 1895 and 1898 and has also been known as a youth church since 2006. The building was constructed in the Neo-Gothic style by Rudolph Eberhard Hillebrand on a triangular plot of land in the Nordstadt district. In 1945, the church was severely damaged during an air raid and stood vacant for several years until its reconstruction was completed in 1957. In the 1960s, a renovation took place during which the church interior was modernized, and in 2003, the church was converted into the first youth church in northern Germany. The conversion included the installation of a professional lighting and sound system for concerts and theater performances. In 2006, the Lutherkirche was damaged again when a fire destroyed the church tower, but restoration was completed in 2008. The altar relief depicting Jesus’ Last Supper was created in 1957 by Ingeborg Steinohrt. The church features an organ from 1963 and impressive stained-glass windows depicting the biblical story of salvation and the Creation. A statue of Luther from 1926 is now located in the tower foyer.
