The Leibniz Temple in Georgengarten was built between 1787 and 1790 as a pavilion featuring twelve Ionic columns, in honor of the Hanoverian polymath Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. It was the first monument in Germany dedicated to a non-noble. Originally, the Leibniz Temple stood on Waterlooplatz; it was moved to its current location in 1935.
