German Pavilion

The building looks futuristic with its curved glass fronts.

German Pavilion

The German Pavilion was completed in 2000 for EXPO 2000. Today, the futuristic-looking building is used, among other things, as an event venue.

The German Pavilion, a building made entirely of glass, extends a welcoming gesture to visitors from around the world through its transparency. The combination of glass, wood, and steel, along with innovative construction techniques, embodies the EXPO motto “People – Nature – Technology.” Delicate glass and steel structures blend harmoniously with the natural material of wood. Particularly striking is the inward-curving, self-tensioned glass skin of the façade, which lends the building a sense of lightness and elegance. Another architectural highlight is the columns supporting the wooden roof of the German Pavilion, making the building one of the most striking landmarks on the 170-hectare World Expo grounds.
