Today’s Expowal was opened in 2000 as the “Pavilion of Hope” by the YMCA, World Vision Germany, and the German Evangelical Alliance for EXPO 2000. The building was voted an official EXPO landmark via TED by readers of BUNTE magazine and viewers of ZDF. Today, the Expowal serves as a venue for events and special worship services. Directly adjacent to the Wal is EXPO Park South, featuring green spaces and water features.
