The Hannover Exhibition Center is located in the south of the state capital of Hannover, in the Mittelfeld district. It comprises a covered area of 392,453 m² and an open-air area of 58,000 m² and, with 24 exhibition halls, is the largest exhibition center in the world.[1][2] The 131-hectare core area also includes a convention center operated by Deutsche Messe AG (DMAG), which also organizes trade shows off-site.

In 2000, Expo 2000 was held here, attracting worldwide attention. Every year, major trade shows such as Agritechnica and the Hannover Messe take place here.

Today's exhibition grounds were established in 1947 on the site of the former Vereinigte Leichtmetall-Werke, which were dismantled after the war. The 1947 Export Fair laid the foundation for the Hannover Messe, which quickly became a success and established Hannover as a major trade fair destination.

The "House of Nations" is the only remaining building from the early days of the site. The original five halls (I-V) have disappeared over the years, new halls have been added and the infrastructure constantly expanded.

The exhibition grounds are well connected via the Messeschnellweg (BAB 2 and BAB 7). They feature approximately 39,000 parking spaces, 8,790 of which are in parking garages, and are also easily accessible via the Hannover light rail (lines 6 and 8) and the Hannover Messe/Laatzen train station.

Among the most striking buildings are the Hermesturm, the high-rise exhibition center that serves as DMAG's administrative headquarters, and the Expodach, the world's largest self-supporting wooden roof.

The Hannover Exhibition Center is not only an economic driver for the region, but also an architectural and logistical masterpiece that has garnered international attention.
