The Sculpture Mile in the city center, the “curvy girls,” Niki de Saint Phalle’s Nanas, and the BUSSTOPs at the bus stops ensure that art is encountered at every turn. In total, over 200 sculptures, statues, and installations showcase an impressive range of art in public spaces. The Sprengel Museum Hannover is a leading destination for art from the 20th and 21st centuries. Its expansion project is one of the city’s largest cultural initiatives. Other nationally renowned museums of contemporary art include the Kestner Gesellschaft and the Kunstverein Hannover. The Lower Saxony State Museum in Hannover offers a vast spectrum of exhibits, making it more than just a family museum. It houses natural history, ethnological, and archaeological collections, as well as a collection of paintings and a numismatic collection.

The Museum August Kestner spans the arc from antiquity to the present day. The Wilhelm Busch – German Museum of Caricature and Cartoon Art offers satirical fun for the whole family, while the Historical Museum focuses on regional and local history. Baroque treasures, famous figures from Hanover’s history, and the significant Herrenhausen Gardens complex take center stage at the Herrenhausen Palace Museum. Europe’s first kitchen museum, World of Kitchen – WoK, is a colorful world centered on food. And the Museum of Energy History presents curiosities and classics that are sure to captivate visitors. The Zinnober Children’s Museum is a special museum just for the little ones. Under the motto “Get started!” everyone can be active and creative here.
