Along the Weser - through the mountains of Lower Saxony

The lower parts of the northern German low mountain range form the picturesque landscape of the Weserbergland. The landscape is hilly and full of dense forests - up to the Solling-Vogler Nature Park. The Weser is bordered by narrow rivers, the Werra and the Fulda. The region is named after itself from Hann. Münden to Porta Westfalicana. The varied landscape of the valleys and the peaks of the Lower Saxon Highlands attract cyclists, hikers and motorcyclists from all over Lower Saxony. The cycling tours in particular are an attraction for active visitors.

The easy access route via the B1 or B3 is not just a great way to get to and from the city, it also offers the pleasure of a very special part of Lower Saxony, with endless nature reserves and beautiful winding pass roads as a reward for cyclists. If you prefer something a little more relaxed, you can enjoy the landscape on a boat trip. Along the Corvey World Heritage Site and the porcelain factory in Fürstenberg, the Weser flows past the towns of Bad Karlshafen, Bodenwerder and Hamelin, allowing cyclists to experience the Weser Uplands from a very different perspective. Past ancient castles, steep rocky slopes and natural woodland areas, you can enjoy nature as close as possible on these water, cycle and road trails.

Motorcycle or bicycle - op twee Röders dör dat Niedersächsische Bergland

Want to explore the areas on either side of the Weser? In that case, though, not on horseback, but by motorcycle or bicycle. That’s what this low mountain range is known for. In the Weserbergland, in addition to the well-known Weser Cycle Route, there are plenty of side routes for cyclists and mountain bikers. Whether through the woods or along the meandering Weser—the bike tours take you past unique sights such as the breathtaking Weser Skywalk and the Hannoversche Cliffs.

For guests who like to get on a motorized bike, this region - along with the Harz Mountains - is a popular motorcycle hotspot. Especially the Köterberg, the highest mountain in the Netherlands, is a real magnet for the scene and therefore a popular meeting place for bikers. Its panoramic view extends up to 80 km over the wider Weserbergland region. If you prefer shorter stages, you can choose destinations such as the Schillat cave in Hessisch Oldendorf and the Tonenburg castle in Höxter-Albaxen. Whether by pedal or motorized bike, every tour through the Weserbergland will be an exciting journey.
