Guelph mausoleum

The Guelph Mausoleum is located in the Berggarten.

Between 1842 and 1847, the mausoleum was built according to plans by Court Architect Laves for Queen Friederike and King Ernst August. The building, which is owned by the Prince of Hanover, is not open to the public out of respect for the deceased.
The building is rarely opened to the public on specific days, and such openings are announced in advance through the press.
The renovation of the Leineschloss in 1957 made it necessary to transfer the remains of eight additional members of the royal family to the mausoleum, including Electress Sophie and George I, King of England. The building is framed by majestic English oaks that are over 150 years old
