Here you will find information about the Loccumer Hof.
Loccumer Hof
The Loccumer Hof was built in 1293 as the farmstead of the Cistercian monastery in Loccum. After 1730, the entire complex was completely rebuilt by Abbot Georg Wilhelm Ebell, and in 1832, the abbot’s residence was also rebuilt by Georg Laves. The Loccumer Hof was destroyed during World War II—today, only a section of the wall remains.
Only a few bare remnants of the walls remind visitors of the former farmyard of the important Cistercian monastery of Loccum. The Loccumer Hof, built in 1293 on Osterstrasse, completely rebuilt by Abbot Georg Wilhelm Ebell in 1730 and partially rebuilt again by Georg Laves, was destroyed during World War II. During the time of Abbot Wolter Molanus, the farmyard was known as a meeting place for scholars, including Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz.
