There are several elaborately designed tombs from the early period here, such as the graves of Charlotte Kestner and Caroline Herschel. In 1864, the cemetery was decommissioned in favor of the new Engesohde City Cemetery.

Information in English

The Garden Cemetery, originally intended for the residents of the Gartenvorstadt, was built outside the city walls in 1741. Five years later, the city completed the cemetery by adding a church, the Gartenkirche (1746–1749). Notable features include numerous elaborately decorated tombs from its early years, such as the graves of Charlotte Kestner and Caroline Herschel. In 1864, it was decommissioned in favor of the new municipal cemetery in Engesohde.
