4th Wangenheim Palace

The Wangenheim Palace was built between 1829 and 1833 according to plans by Georg Laves as a residence for Count Georg von Wangenheim. It is considered one of the most significant Neoclassical buildings in Hanover. After Wangenheim’s death, the building even served temporarily as city hall; today, it is the headquarters of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor, and Transportation.

Considered one of the most significant Classicist buildings in Hanover: the Wangenheim Palace. The palace was built between 1829 and 1833 according to plans by Georg Laves, as the residence of Count Georg von Wangenheim. After the count’s death, George V, Hanover’s last king, resided here. Later, the building even served as city hall for some time. Today, the palace is home to the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economy, Labor, and Transportation.
