8th Leineschloss

Construction of the original Leineschloss began as early as 1637. Beginning in 1714, King George I had the interior magnificently renovated. Between 1742 and 1746, the northwest wing was rebuilt following a fire. Further significant renovations were carried out between 1815 and 1835 by Georg Laves. Among other things, he added the Neoclassical portico, modeled after Carlton House in London. Today, the Leineschloss serves as the seat of the state parliament.

After a fire, the northwest wing had to be rebuilt. Further structural changes were made by Georg Laves between 1815 and 1835. Among other details, he added the classicist portico, modeled after the one at Carlton House in London. Today, the Leineschloss houses the Landtag, the state parliament of Lower Saxony.
