Hinüberscher Garden

The Hinüber Garden in Hannover-Marienwerder was laid out between 1766 and 1784 around the Marienwerder Monastery according to plans by Jobst Anton von Hinüber. It is one of the first landscape gardens in Germany and covers an area of 35 hectares. In the run-up to EXPO 2000, the garden underwent extensive restoration, but its basic layout remains unchanged to this day.

Information in English

It was one of the first landscape gardens in all of Germany: the Hinüberscher Garten in Hannover-Marienwerder. Built around the Marienwerder monastery between 1766 and 1784 according to plans by Jobst Anton von Hinüber, its basic structure remains unchanged to this day. The 35-hectare landscape park, modeled after 18th-century English landscape gardens, was painstakingly restored just before EXPO 2000 in Hannover.
