E5 Kitchen garden pavilion

As part of the transformation of the kitchen garden from a purely functional garden into a kitchen and ornamental garden for the Hanoverian royal family, the Baroque kitchen garden pavilion was built between 1741 and 1750 by Chief Court Architect Johann Paul Heumann. After the end of the Kingdom of Hanover in 1866, the kitchen garden fell into disrepair. The kitchen garden pavilion was relocated to Lindener Berg in 1912.

The kitchen garden, built in the village of Linden in the 17th century to grow provisions for the Guelph residence, was expanded and redesigned beginning in 1740. Originally intended solely for fruit and vegetables, it was rebuilt for the Hanoverian royal family to include an ornamental garden as well as the produce section. During the reconstruction period, chief court architect Johann Paul Heumann built the Baroque-style Küchengarten Pavilion between 1741 and 1750. The pavilion was moved to Lindener Berg in 1912.
