15 geocaches are waiting to be discovered: A new cache and a Leibniz bonus coin will be available in 2026 to mark the 350th anniversary of Leibniz’s arrival in Hanover. Follow in the footsteps of this polymath.
Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz is considered one of the last universal geniuses: a temple and a monument were erected in his honor in Hanover—and the university is also named after him. He invented the binary number system, which is used today in nearly every electronic device. Leibniz enjoyed drinking coffee, and fittingly, a cookie was even named after him. His grave is located in the Neustadt Court and City Church. His scientific papers are preserved in the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Library.
