The collection houses approximately 50,000 documents comprising some 200,000 pages by Leibniz, including his extensive correspondence with scholars from around the world as well as the books from his private library. The 15,000 letters in the collection are still being cataloged. A total of 1,100 correspondents from 16 countries have been identified. Since 2007, Leibniz’s writings have been part of UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register. It is the largest written estate of any scholar. A complete edition is expected to be available by 2048. A 15-volume Chinese edition of Leibniz’s works is also planned, as well as a Spanish one.

It is the largest written archive of any scholar anywhere. A total edition is planned for publication by 2048. A 15-volume Chinese Leibniz edition is also planned, as well as one in Spanish.
