A campus surrounded by greenery in the heart of the city—the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University of Hannover. Founded in 1831 as a technical college, it quickly developed into a modern university. Since 2006, the former University of Hannover has been known as the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University. In the atrium of the Welfenschloss, an exhibition features, among other things, a replica of the gear-driven calculating machine developed by Leibniz. Objects, images, and texts offer visitors deep insights into Leibniz’s life.
