The circular temple commemorating Leibniz was built between 1787 and 1790. At that time, the temple and the scholar’s marble bust were still located on what is now Waterlooplatz. For urban planning reasons, the massive sandstone building with twelve columns was moved to its current location in the Georgengarten in 1935–1936. On July 1, 2010, a replica of the bust was installed inside. The small temple is a magnificent “point de vue,” an attractive photo spot, and a popular meeting place for day-trippers and couples in love.
