Eat the World - Hannover List

You can choose from the following tours:

1. Hannover Linden Tour: A Neighborhood That Stays True to Itself

Here, the local way of life is still authentic, and the sense of community is evident in street festivals, yard sales, and chatting at the corner kiosk. The tour starts at a well-known square that has only recently been allowed to use its official name. We’ll stroll up and down the street of the same name, but we’ll also turn into the lesser-known side streets and discover amazing things together: streets and the spirit of life they embodied that had to give way to the redevelopment of the 1980s, yet whose stories are an integral part of the neighborhood.

2. Hanover List Tour: Lively, green, and middle-class all at once

Eat the World - Hannover Linden

The dazzling facade of St. Mark’s Church is the starting point for exploring the part of Hanover that has made international headlines with a touch of humor: Tour guests learn about cookie theft and the Cookie Monster and marvel at the rapid transformation of this former farming village into a major industrial hub. The route takes you past factory sites and magnificent buildings with the most beautiful Art Nouveau facades. To the right and left of Lister Meile, the shopping street with its unique charm, there is plenty to discover and savor—more than even some “connoisseurs” might believe.

3. Hannover Nordstadt Tour: Leisurely, Colorful, and Revolutionary

Join us on a culinary and cultural walking tour of Nordstadt and discover its many facets! Starting at a church featuring a stone pyramid, we’ll take you to a magnificent mansion that now serves as the main hub for Hanover’s students, and to a popular English-style city park. Discover a former chocolate factory that served as the heart of a bohemian neighborhood in the 1980s. Today, it has evolved into a place of peaceful togetherness, where more and more young people are enjoying the diverse offerings of concerts, readings, and other entertainment programs.

4. Hannover Südstadt Tour: Lake Masch, museums, and picturesque building facades

Eat the World - Hannover Südstadt

A civil servant’s neighborhood just for sleeping? Those days are long gone! Immerse yourself in the family-friendly Südstadt, a neighborhood in the midst of transformation! The tour starts at Maschsee, Hannover’s “blue eye”; you’ll pass internationally renowned museums with a view of the castle-like New City Hall, which features the world’s only arch lift. You’ll then cross the Südstadt’s main thoroughfare, Hildesheimer Straße, and along the way, you’ll pass building facades that tell their own stories: those of the 19th-century bourgeoisie, the civil servants’ district of the 1920s, and the history of reconstruction after World War II. And, of course, today’s modern “South Side.”

5. Hannover-Döhren: Discover the undiscovered Döhren

Experience an exciting, diverse neighborhood that predates Hanover and has retained its village-like character. Discover its interesting and varied architecture and an idyllic, green neighborhood with plenty to do in your free time. Enjoy cuisine that reflects the cosmopolitan spirit of its residents. You’ll visit Fiedelerplatz, which is practically a “second living room” for the people of Döhren. With its cafés, bistros, and restaurants, it’s a gathering place for young and old alike—not just on market days. You’ll learn more about the family that gave the square its name and how they shaped the village’s destiny. You’ll stop by the “Drei-Kaiser-Haus,” discover Leineinsel and the green district of Döhren, and find out what the Döhrener Jammer and Döhrener Wolle are all about.
