Hannover Tourist Information: Rating: Very Good

Can visitors feel that they are in good hands at German tourist information centers? Do they get all the information they want? Even by e-mail and telephone? The ADAC investigated these questions by testing 14 tourist information offices in Germany. The result is (almost) unique.

The Hanover Tourist Information Office was there too! Rating: Excellent!

Particularly noteworthy is the website in 18 languages with address, opening times, information on restaurants, bike hire and cycle paths, good advice on site, by e-mail and on the phone, as well as the opening times.

How the ADAC test went

The ADAC commissioned BTE Tourism and Regional Consulting to conduct the tests. The tourist information offices evaluated are located in the German cities with the highest number of overnight stays: Bad Füssing, Berlin, Binz on Rügen, Düsseldorf, Dresden, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, Hanover, Ostseebad Heringsdorf on Usedom, Cologne, Leipzig, Munich, Rostock/Warnemünde, and Stuttgart. The on-site tests took place in October 2017. In addition, inquiries were made by phone and email, and the information content of the websites was reviewed. The evaluation was based on a checklist covering the categories of accessibility, information, advice and facilities, as well as sales and booking services. Eight tourist information offices received a “very good” rating in the ADAC test, five received a “good,” and only one was rated “adequate” (Heringsdorf).
