Hannover's "Bad Sisters" revolves around the fictional characters Anita Palmerova and Magda Anderson, who belong to the sewing and singing group "Sewing for Hunger"—and are always up for a shot of eggnog.
The Wicked Sisters pass the time with eggnog.
These Are the Evil Sisters
The Bösen Schwestern is an independent theater group with its own rehearsal space, office, and prop room in Hannover. The group was founded in October 1990, when its first production, "Gott und die Welt," premiered.
This was followed by several original plays about the Third Reich and “perfectly ordinary childhoods,” until the quintessentially German “Sewing and Singing Group” made its stage debut in 1998 and has been delighting audiences across the country ever since.
About the protagonists
Chris Palmer and Adrian Anders perform exclusively their own original material—primarily in Lower Saxony, Hesse, and North Rhine-Westphalia—and now portray only female characters. They always have a travel guitar, a tambourine, and the obligatory bottle of eggnog in their luggage.
Their shows are characterized by funny, clever, and sometimes touching stories, accompanied by plenty of music. However, as Palmer and Anders note on their website, “neither comedy, cabaret, drag, nor musical really describes what we do.” There’s probably a bit of everything.
What is currently happening here?
The Bösen Schwestern are on the lineup at Marlene Bar und Bühne in December—subject to changes due to COVID-19, of course.
