Take the A2 exit for Hannover-Herrenhausen, then take the B6 toward Neustadt/Nienburg. Take the Frielingen/Otternhagen exit and continue to Otternhagen. In Otternhagen, take the first right and drive through Scharrel and Metel. After passing Metel, head toward Averhoy; the lake is on the left.
