Giebichenstein in Stöckse

Zum Giebichenstein,
31638 Stöckse

Lower Saxony's largest boulder is located in the "Krähe" forest near Stöckse: this granite boulder, weighing approximately 207 tons, was carried here from Sweden by glaciers during the Saale Glacial Period.

Legend has it that this is the site of the dwarf king Giebich. An archaeological trail provides information about a Stone Age hunter-gatherer camp and a Bronze Age burial mound field nearby.
