From A for waste prevention to Z for certification in sustainable practices, the hotel has thought of everything. The hotel is certified to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015, and 50001:2011 to demonstrate to the outside world just how seriously it takes this issue.
Sustainability works best as a team effort, and guests are also involved in the initiatives. This allows them to decide for themselves whether they want their rooms cleaned daily. Room keys are now made of wood to reduce plastic waste, and guests can also unlock their rooms using the Hilton app.
In recent years, guest rooms, meeting and event spaces, and—in 2022—the ground floor, including the lobby and restaurant, have been renovated in a contemporary style. The focus was not only on eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient, even “smart,” technology, but also on many small details that, when taken together, conserve a great deal of resources. Electric vehicle charging stations in the hotel’s own parking garage are now just as much a given as the use of green electricity or a sophisticated waste sorting system.
Digitization at the front desk and the near-paperless office contribute to sustainability just as much as reducing packaging waste when purchasing goods or using eco-friendly and even renewable decorative items.
At Restaurant Albertz, the chefs are passionate about cooking with regional ingredients, and if there are any leftovers, the food is packed into “Too Good To Go” Magic Bags and given away. This is how the hotel shows its care for others.
