Sustainability at the Mercure Hotel Hannover Oldenburger Allee.
Over the past few months, the Mercure Hotel Hannover Oldenburger Allee has focused intensively on sustainability and implemented numerous measures. As a result of these efforts, the hotel has now been awarded the coveted “Green Key” certification. Green Key is a voluntary eco-certification program for hotels, hostels, campgrounds, vacation parks, small accommodations, as well as conference centers, attractions, and restaurants.
In addition, the property has been awarded a BREEAM certificate by TÜV Süd. BREEAM stands for "Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method" and is an internationally recognized certification system for evaluating the environmental performance of buildings.
Another significant initiative was the installation of a centrally controlled heating system. This allows the heating in each room to be adjusted based on occupancy, thereby effectively saving energy.
The hotel plans to carry out a comprehensive overhaul of its ventilation system in 2024, with the clear goal of achieving additional energy savings. In addition, they plan to install a solar power system and provide charging stations for electric cars to further strengthen their commitment to sustainability and offer guests eco-friendly options.
