Guests can use a QR code to learn about the Green Key criteria and are encouraged to actively participate in waste reduction.

A particular highlight are the three bee colonies on the hotel roof. Not only are they lovingly tended by a beekeeper, but they also provide honey for the hotel kitchen. With an impressive yield of 82 kg of honey in 2022, the Novotel Hannover actively contributes to bee conservation and uses the honey right on site.

The Novotel kitchen places great emphasis on preventing food waste and operating sustainably. Leftover food is donated to food-sharing organizations. In addition, the hotel avoids using individually packaged products to reduce plastic waste. Coffee grounds and tea bags are also disposed of in the hotel’s compost bin.

Daily monitoring of water and energy consumption is standard practice at the Novotel Hannover. By using 100% hydroelectric power, monitoring equipment settings, and regularly checking the water quality in the hot tub, the hotel sets the standard for energy efficiency and environmental protection.

The Novotel Hannover proves that sustainability and hospitality can go hand in hand. Through initiatives such as donating the cleaning fees for uncleaned rooms to a children’s hospice or offering employees public transportation passes, the hotel demonstrates that sustainability has many facets.
