Statement from Deutsche Messe AG regarding the postponement of HANNOVER MESSE:
The next HANNOVER MESSE will be held from May 30 to June 2. With this decision, Deutsche Messe AG is responding to the current pandemic situation and providing planning certainty for exhibitors and visitors
Hannover Messe will take place from May 30 to June 2, 2022, rather than in April as previously planned. The decision to postpone the event to early June 2022 was made in close consultation with the HANNOVER MESSE Exhibitor Advisory Board as well as the partner associations VDMA (German Engineering Federation) and ZVEI (German Electrical and Digital Industries Association).
“Due to the persistently high infection rates in Germany and many neighboring countries, we have decided, together with our exhibitors, to postpone HANNOVER MESSE until early summer this year. Last year, we observed that during the pandemic, the summer months are best suited for large-scale events. Since we cannot assume at this point that the COVID-19 situation will have eased sufficiently by April, we are offering our customers the greatest possible planning certainty with this early date change so they can present their innovations at the world’s most important industrial trade fair,” says Dr. Jochen Köckler, Chairman of the Executive Board of Deutsche Messe AG.
Next trade fair: 20 - 24.04.2026

HANNOVER MESSE - The world's leading industrial trade fair
HANNOVER MESSE - the first major industrial trade fair
HANNOVER MESSE will be the world’s first major industrial trade fair in June, and with its focus on digitalization and sustainability, it will provide clear impetus for innovative, efficient production and climate protection. Due to the high utilization of the Fairground in Hannover with numerous events in early summer, the world’s leading industrial trade fair must be shortened to four days this year. In 2023, Hannover Messe will once again take place over five days in April as usual.
“It is the right decision to postpone HANNOVER MESSE to a later date. This will allow the vaccination rate to increase further, which is in the best interest of both exhibitors and visitors to the trade fair. In addition, a later event date means a higher likelihood of attracting a larger national and international audience—a benefit for all involved. The mechanical and plant engineering sector will present itself in Hannover as a technological enabler of climate protection and digitalization, and will highlight its role as a provider and user of cutting-edge technology for networked and intelligent production,” said VDMA CEO Thilo Brodtmann.
“As the world’s most important industrial trade fair, HANNOVER MESSE serves as a global showcase for our companies. Given the current circumstances, postponing the event is therefore the right decision. We are confident that this summer we will be able to reach a larger audience with topics related to Industry 4.0 and its contributions to sustainability. With our innovations in digitalization, electrification, energy efficiency, and automation, the electrical and digital industries are shaping the industrial transition toward a climate-neutral circular economy. We want to demonstrate what this path might look like to as broad an audience as possible. Because only by working together and pulling in the same direction can we master this challenge. “HANNOVER MESSE offers the ideal setting for this,” says Wolfgang Weber, Chairman of the ZVEI Executive Board.
