Hannover’s fourth €0 note is now available for €3.50 at the Tourist Information office on Ernst-August-Platz and at the Tourist Information office in the New City Hall.
The high-quality souvenir bill feels genuine and has (almost) all the security features of a normal euro bill - but with a purely sentimental value. On the front, which is similar in size to a 20 euro bill, the New Town Hall can be seen from the Platz der Menschenrechte. The reverse is adorned with well-known tourist attractions such as the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum and the Brandenburg Gate.
For tourists and visitors, it’s a lovely memento and a great souvenir—more than just a postcard. The idea came from the agency Hinrichsen Kommunikation, which wanted to commission an unusual promotional item for its hometown. In collaboration with Hannover Marketing und Tourismus GmbH (HMTG), three such souvenir notes have already been created in the past.
What is a 0-euro bill?
It is produced on genuine banknote paper with typical security features in one of the largest printing plants for banknotes in France. The basic color is violet, similar to that of the 500 euro bill, and the size of the souvenir bill is the same as that of the 20 euro bill. The following security features are used: personalized watermark, copper strip, hologram, banknote security background, fluorescent invisible ink and an individual serial number.
As a euro souvenir bill with a nominal value of 0 euros, it is officially approved and released for the German market. The front is individually designed and the reverse shows well-known buildings from Europe.
In 2015, the genuine euro bill souvenir was invented by Frenchman Richard Faille, who had previously mainly designed commemorative coins.
