Region Hannover Discovery Day 2026
Over 30 tour destinations, a big festival in downtown Hannover, and public transport at a special price.
The Region Hannover invites you to the 39th Entdeckertag—and is celebrating its 25th anniversary at the same time: On Sunday, September 6, explorers of all ages can discover over 30 tour destinations. Hannover’s downtown will be transformed into an adventure zone: Between Kröpcke and Aegi, visitors can look forward to a vibrant festival featuring over 150 booths, three stages with regional artists and athletes, and plenty of hands-on activities for children and adults.
The big bonus: All trips on buses, light rail, and commuter trains throughout the entire GVH area (fare zones A/B/C) cost just 7.40 euros (day pass) or 3.70 euros (Social Fare Day Pass S) on this day, and 13.60 euros with the group day pass—regardless of how many zones are crossed. This means you can also take local trains to the tour destination stations in zones D, E, and F—a benefit that, on other days, is only offered by the Deutschlandticket.
Overview of Tour Destinations:
Explorers' Festival in Downtown Hanover
Central, colorful, and full of life—at the City Discovery Festival: between Kröpcke and Aegi, visitors can enjoy a program spread across three stages, along with plenty of informational booths and hands-on activities. On Opernplatz, the Region Hannover will showcase its teams, businesses, and the “Hörregion.” You can find a moment of peace with coffee and cake on the family lawn between Börse and Georgstraße or in the beer garden at Georgsplatz.
Anniversary Roadshow – Final Stop in Hannover
The Entdeckertag also marks the conclusion of a journey: To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the Region Hannover has been touring cities and towns over the past few months with its anniversary roadshow. On site, staff members provided information about the Region’s work, answered questions, and engaged in conversations with many people. At the heart of the roadshow are seven interactive stations that offer a playful way to experience the Region Hannover’s areas of responsibility: mobility, the environment, health, safety, the economy, social affairs, and education. Anyone who has missed the roadshow so far will now have one last chance to try out the games at the Entdeckertag festival in downtown Hannover.
